Dear Anne,
Glad to hear from you, and I’m writing to talk
about my favourite scientist—Sun Jiadong.
Sun Jiadong, born in 1929 in Liaoning Province,
returned to China after graduating from Zhukovsky
Air Force Engineering Academy of the Soviet Union
with great grades in 1958. In 1967, he was recommended
by Qian Xuesen for the Dongfanghong satellite program
to design the first man-made earth satellite in China.
At that time Sun was only 38. In the past decades,
he has been leading a series of satellite research,
including China’s first lunar probe, Chang’e 1.
Because of his great contributions, he is known as
“China’s Father of Satellites”。
